IELTS Opinion Essay Question

The growing number of overweight  people is putting a strain on the health care system in an effort to deal with the health issues involved. Some people think that the best way to deal with this problem is to introduce more physical education lessons in the school curriculum. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

IELTS Agree Disagree Model Essay Answer

Owing to the problems which a growing population of overweight people cause for the health care system, some people think that the key to solving these issues is to have more sport and exercise in schools. In my opinion, I completely agree that this is the best way to tackle the issue of deteriorating public health in relation to weight. This essay will demonstrate how the intergrating of more sports into school program should not only make the children more physically fit, but also benefit the well-being of their entire families.

Firstly, dealing with the issues surrounding obesity and weight problems is best solved by taking a long term approach and introducing more sport and exercise in schools. This method will ensure that the next generation will be healthier and will not have such health problems. At the moment, the average child in the West does sport possibly twice a week, which is not enough to counteract their otherwise sedentary lifestyle. However, by incorporating more sports classes into the curriculum as well as encouraging extracurricular sports activities, they will undoubtedly become fitter and more active.

Another point to consider is that having more sports lessons for children in schools will probably result in children developing an interest in exercise which might filter through to other members of their family and have a longer lasting effect. In other words, parents with sporty children are more likely to get involved in sport as a way of encouraging their children. By both parents and children being involved, it will ensure that children grow up to incorporate sport into their daily lives. This is certainly a natural and lasting way to improve public health.

On the other hand, some people may disagree with my point of view. They might say that our school children are already exceedingly busy with their class work, and the introduction of additional lessons, whether these are physical education or anything else, will only contribute to additional stress and anxiety. I object to this opinion. Physical exercise not only releases stress; it is essential to compensate for that sedentary life style, which has become so common among our school students due to extensive educational programs, and having more physical exercise will only help to relax and change the pattern of an ordinary school day.

In conclusion, to deal with an increasing population of unfit, overweight people, changing the lifestyle of the coming generation by introducing sport in schools is the easiest and most effective method to use.

IELTS Opinion Essay Question

Some people prefer to live in a small town. Others prefer to live in a big city. Which place would you prefer to live in? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

IELTS Agree Disagree Model Essay Answer

It is a common knowledge that some people prefer to live in a small town, while others find interest living in a big city. We need to admit that either of these two choices has its pros and cons, in other words, both of them have their advantages and disadvantages. However, I would much rather choose to live in a small town. There are several arguments to show why I think so.

Firstly, small town is more ecological than big city. Small towns do not have traffic jams, as the result, they feature lower emissions due to lower levels of traffic. Usually, small town has more greenery, like gardens, lawns and alleys of trees. The distances in a small city are not great, which makes possible to use bicycle, kick scooter or even walking, which have a positive effect on health.

Secondly, life in a small town is usually not as stressful as in a big city. All the residents usually know each other and conflicts are very rare. Also, small towns statistically have lower crime rate.

Оn the other hand, my opponents might argue that the effect of living in a small town often results  in difficulty in finding well-paid job. However, this is not so crucial, if you work remotely or from home, for example, via the Internet or some messengers. Some critics of living in a small town also note that salaries there tend to be not very high. Nevertheless, small towns also have less expensive real estate which offsets this negative factor.

In conclusion, even though for some people life in a small city is not acceptable, I still vote for choosing this option. Better ecology, low crime rate, cheaper real estate and ability to work from home - all this make living in a small town a clear winner.
